Description

Leptarrhena pyrolifolia Prostrate and creeping evergreen perennial with attractive deep glossy green leaves. The leaves are heavily veined on the upper surface, smooth and very pale green on the lower. The small white flowers are held in tight bunches on the end of a stem up to one foot high. A choice and rarely grown small-scale groundcover which is an excellent addition to the rock garden or planted under rhododendrons. The Leatherleaf Saxifrage is grown mainly for its outstanding foliage. Native to stream banks, wet meadows and subalpine slopes from Alaska south to Oregon and W Montana.
