Richard Göransson to drive WRC Mini in Swedish Rally

Quadruple STCC champion Richard Göransson is going to take part in the Swedish World Rally Championship event in a Mini WRC.
“This is going to be the biggest challenge in my career and I would lie if I didn’t say that I am nervous. I took part in my first rally ever just over a year ago,” said Göransson.

The WestCoast Racing driver is going to drive a Mini John Cooper Works in the rally, run by British factory team Prodrive.
“I have been in the top of racing for several years and for me it is important to continue to develop as driver and rally is a way to do it. I am learning to improvise more, to meet different conditions in a better way and to make the right decision more quickly,” said Göransson.

WestCoast Racing team boss Dick Jönsson-Wigroth agrees with Göransson that the rally experience is positive for his development.
“I have always thought that as a team there is only advantages in that our drivers keep active in between the seasons. Richard started this season stronger than ever and dominated the opening race, partly because of his successful rallying efforts. TTA and a completely new car awaits him for next year and I think this is a good preparation for Richard,” said Jönsson-Wigroth.
