Heidi Klum Is Thinking About Having a Baby at 50

Heidi Klum might be about to turn the big 5-0, but that doesn’t mean the supermodel doesn’t have babies on the brain. The 49-year-old admitted that she has been thinking about expanding her blended family with her husband, Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz.

“I mean wanting it and it actually being possible are always two different things,” Klum told The Sun of her family plans at the pre-filming finale of America’s Got Talent All-Stars. “The big 50 is just around the corner. And things get harder when you get older. But would I want it? Sometimes I think yes,” she admitted.

And while the America’s Got Talent judge is toying with the idea of having another child later in life, she isn’t sugar-coating the process. “When the clock ticks when you get older it is not as easy as it was when you are younger,” she added.

Klum has four children. She became pregnant with her eldest, daughter Leni, 18, just as she broke up with ex Flavio Briatore in 2004. Soon after she met Seal, who was right by Klum’s side when she gave birth. A year later in 2005, the two got married and had three children together: sons Henry, 16, Johan, 14, and Lou, 13. The two divorced in 2014.

The German supermodel previously talked about how raising a blended family is hard work. “I mean, it’s never easy,” she said of navigating co-parenting.

“Obviously when you get married and you have children, you hope for that to last forever,” she told TODAY. “When I said ‘yes’ I meant yes forever. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and so you try to do your best to keep your children as happy as possible and keep them as grounded and loved most as possible.”

Klum married Kaulitz in 2019, which might not have been in her original life plans, but she seems content where she landed. “Life has its ups and downs and even though I always wanted the forever house with the picket fence and the dog and the kids — it somewhat came through — other things have fallen apart. And you know, new love comes along and I don’t know — as long as everyone is happy, then I’m happy and we’re all in good place.”

Klum appears very happy where she is at the moment … but if having a baby after turning 50 is in the cards, it seems like she could be game.
