Overview
Located on the northern coast of Sicily, Campofelice di Roccella is known for its clear waters and beaches, making it a popular summer destination for tourists. The Campofelice di Roccella coastline stretches from Capo Plaja to the mouth of the Imera river, and has no shortage of restraunts to savour the rich local cuisine, which has excellent citrus fruits, tomatoes, artichokes, olives and vegetables.
There are also numerous attractions in the historic centre of the town, starting with the Mother Church in Piazza Garibaldi and the Castle. The Mother Church was built by the Prince of Roccella in the early 18th century and is dedicated to Saint Rosalie. The church has a single nave and houses a 17th-century wooden crucifix. Inside the chapels, in addition to the statues, an 18th-century Annunciation can be admired.
Campofelice di Roccella Castle, on the other hand, stands on a cliff overlooking the sea. Studies have shown that the castle tower, still visible today, is part of the original structure and dates back to the 14th century.
