OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Maspalomas is far more famous for its dunes than its Charca, a bird-attracting lagoon which neighbours the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia. However, it's still only a five-minute walk to the beach. The hotel borders the upmarket resort Meloneras, home to Moonlight Cinema showing the latest and greatest films in the open air.

By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Gran Canaria take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport. Free parking on site. Book flights to Gran Canaria.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

A duplex of an establishment, Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia not being a high-rise adds to its sense of exclusivity. A brilliant white exterior gives the impression of the hotel being as spick as it is span. There's a grandeur about the place but the air is relaxed rather than uptight.

THE FACILITIES

There's nothing like going out for a stress-free dinner and returning to a spotless room. The staff are conspicuous by their presence at Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia and none more so than the cleaners. Nothing seems like too much to ask and the management is as accommodating as they are welcoming.

The main restaurant offers an á-la-carte menu five nights a week and a bi-weekly themed buffet. Head chef Wolfgang Grobaeur combines French classicism with Spanish innovation. An excellent wine list draws heavily on Canarian vintages. Sip cocktails in the piano bar and munch on tapas at the pool bar.
