The hard facts: the ski region Obergurgl-Hochgurgl

Total length: 110 km (ski resort Hochgurgl approx. 54 km, ski resort Obergurgl approx. 56 km) of which 35 km are easy (blue), 55 km medium (red), 20 km difficult (black).

Beginners usually train their first snowplough turns on the Gaisberg exercising ski lift slope. The more advanced skier will enjoy middle ranged slopes at the Festkogl in Obergurgl and the Schermerspitze downhill skiing in Hochgurgl. Top skiers will appreciate the challenge offered by the steep Hohe Mut slopes in Obergurgl and the Top-Wurmkogl II mogul slope in Hochgurgl. Longest downhill run: Wurmkogl - Obergurgl/Pill (8 km - difference in altitude: 1,260 m).

Ski lifts/cable cars in Tyrol

In Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, almost all pistes end at the doorsteps and 24 lifts transport up to 39,400 winter sportsmen and -women up the mountain, which means almost no waiting times.

25 ski lifts, of which 7 are circular gondola lifts (Top Express, HOchgurglbahn 1+2, Festkogelbahn, Schermerbahn 3000, Hohe Mut Section I and Hohe Mut Section II, 2 6-person-bubble-chair lifts (Steinmannbahn, Große Karbahn Hochgurgl), 1 4-person-chair lift, 8 t-bar lifts and 2 conveyor belts.

The TOP-EXPRESS shuttle cable-car from Obergurgl to Hochgurgl: since the winter season of 1997/98, there has been an 8-seater cable-car link between the skiing areas of Obergurgl and Hochgurgl.

The 3.6 km long journey takes just nine minutes. With 50 8-seater cabins, the continuously running cable-car can carry 1200 people every hour. The panoramic cable-car crosses the Königstal and Verwalltal valleys, giving skiers an outstanding view of the glacier summits all around.
