Hezbollah, Israel’s enemy on the northern front and one of the most powerful militias backed by Iran, stands to lose a great deal if drawn into a wider conflict on the Lebanese border.

It’s been firing rockets into Israel daily since Oct. 8, the day after Hamas’ attack killed 1,200 people. The cross-border clashes have stoked fear of a regional war that could upend global markets. While the clashes have been restrained so far, there is always a risk of one party overplaying their hand.
