Is Tang Wei The Other New Bond Girl?
According to reports from Hong Kong, LUST, CAUTION and WU XIA star Tang Wei is sitting atop a short list of female stars to become an Asian Bond Girl in Sam Mendes' upcoming Bond film. The other top contenders include Fan Bingbing, Li Bingbing, Shu Qi and Josie Ho.
In addition to the recently announced Berenice Marlohe, the producers of the Bond 23 are reportedly looking for an Asian Bond Girl and have interviewed over a hundred actresses across Asia for that role. It is clearly a hotly sought after role because the last Asian actress to play a Bond Girl was Michelle Yeoh, who successfully broke into the international market with TOMORROW NEVER DIES.
Compared with the other contenders, Tang Wei is said to stand the best chance of winning the role because of good English skills and the fact that her management company is one of the major investors for the new Bond film.
