Rosa Alpina in Italy to reopen as an Aman hotel

Rosa Alpina, the hotel located in the Italian village of San Cassiano, has announced a new chapter. The former Aman partner hotel will close temporarily and reopen as an Aman property after extensive refurbishments in the 2024-25 winter season.

San Cassiano is frequented by travelers looking to explore the UNESCO-protected Dolomites. The hotel’s renovation will include careful consideration of the natural environment surrounding the property. After it reopens as a fully-branded Aman hotel, it will provide access to more than 745 miles of slopes in the winter and outdoor adventures in the warmer months.

The redesign will include a complete remodeling of the guest rooms. The existing 52 rooms and suites will be reduced to 50 keys, with each room varying in layout and size. Two Presidential Suites, totaling 1,615 square feet, will be the biggest rooms on offer, alongside the existing 3,015-square-foot Chalet Zeno, which can accommodate up to six guests.

The renovation of the historic hotel will be spearheaded by long-time Aman partner Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects. Gathy has previously led the transformation of the Crown Building into Aman New York.

Each redesigned space will be shaped to enhance the guest’s experience while also improving the flow of service for the operations team.

Architectural enhancements to the hotel’s exterior and interior communal areas will create a more diverse and extensive dining concept, adding private dining spaces for small groups. Drawing inspiration from the hotel’s culinary heritage, the refined gastronomy will offer several options ranging from informal alfresco fondues to fine dining multi-course meals.

The hotel’s existing wellness offering will be doubled and reconfigured. New additions include an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, complemented by a curated treatment menu.

An activity center will offer experiences for guests of all ages.

Rosa Alpina has been managed by three generations of the Pizzinini family since 1939. The family entered into a long-term partnership with Aman in November 2020. Per the agreement, Aman would contribute to marketing and sales service and operations in the field for an initial phase lasting 18 months. The partnership also established a long-term collaboration and significant investment to transform Rosa Alpina into an Aman hotel in late 2022.

Founded in 1988, Aman’s portfolio has grown to comprise 34 properties in 12 destinations globally, of which 12 include Aman Branded Residences. Among this collection of hotels and resorts, 15 are located within or close to UNESCO-recognized sites.

The group has 10 more projects in its pipeline, with many under construction.
