Briefs: Deutsche Hospitality enters Czech Republic; Hotel Alhambra Palace joins WorldHotels

DEUTSCHE HOSPITALITY EXPANDS INTO CZECH REPUBLIC: Deutsche Hospitality has debuted in the Czech Republic with the opening of a new Zleep Hotel in Prague. Zleep Hotel Prague offers 166 rooms with extra-long beds, smart TV and complimentary Wi-Fi in the rooms. The hotel includes guest terminals for self-check-in, a lobby with a breakfast and lounge area, a bar and a terrace. The hotel is located in the new Waltrovka quarter in the city’s southwest area. The hotel is operated by Deutsche Hospitality. This property marks Zleep Hotel’s third location outside Denmark, following Upplands Väsby, near Stockholm in Sweden, and Madrid in Spain. More Zleep Hotels are expected to open in 2024, including in Lausanne-Chavannes, Hillerød and Zurich-Kloten.

HOTEL ALHAMBRA PALACE JOINS WORLDHOTELS: adds WorldHotels has added Hotel Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, to the WorldHotels Luxury collection as the brand continues its expansion in the country. Located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in southern Spain’s Andalusia region, the luxury hotel offers 100 rooms and suites. The hotel is part of the history of the tourism industry in Granada since 1910 and features original tiles from 1910, with décor inspired by the Nasrid dynasty. The rooms and suites were renovated in 2018 and partially in 2020 to combine modernity and tradition. The hotel includes a terrace, a restaurant and a panoramic terrace snack bar. A privately-held soft brand within BWH Hotels, WorldHotels consists of four collections — Luxury, Elite, Crafted and Distinctive — each with its own unique personality.

HILTON GRAND VACATIONS ADDS 90 ROOMS ON VEGAS STRIP: Hilton Grand Vacations Inc., the global vacation ownership company, has added 90 new luxury rooms at its Las Vegas resort with the opening of Elara, a Hilton Club. The addition includes four top floors of new penthouses to the existing property. The 90 rooms include 34 studios, 40 one-bedroom suites and 16 two-bedroom suites. Each room offers floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding mountain and desert landscapes. The 52-story property is known for its mirrored façade. One of the biggest timeshare resorts, Elara now offers around 1,300 units. Elara was developed as a joint venture with affiliates of Blackstone Real Estate and includes a recently renovated 15,000-square-foot grand lobby, a 40,000-square-foot elevated pool with two hot tubs, a pool bar and grill, 33 private cabanas, a fitness center and EV charging stations. Guests staying at the resort can access the adjoining Miracle Mile Shops.

DUAL-BRANDED HOTEL IN LAS VEGAS: Jackson-Shaw, the Texas-based real estate developer, has announced the development of the dual-branded AC Hotel by Marriott Symphony Park and Element by Westin Symphony Park in Las Vegas. The two properties, connected by the same roof, are located on the southern side of South Central Parkway and Symphony Park Avenue. Groundbreaking on the properties is scheduled for January 2024, with opening expected in late 2025. The five-story building will feature a total of 441 rooms. The AC hotel by Marriott part will have 322 rooms, while the Element by Westin will include 119 rooms. The property will offer 18,025 square feet of ballroom and meeting space and seven entertainment suites with an outdoor pool and terrace. The hotel is being developed in collaboration with Compatriot Capital. Hall Structured Finance provides construction financing. Grand Canyon Development Partners serves as construction manager and Whiting-Turner is the general contractor. The building’s architect is Cooper Carry.

IHG TO GROW LUXURY FOOTPRINT IN THAILAND: IHG Hotels & Resorts has extended its long-term partnership with Thailand-based Asset World Corp Public Co. Ltd. with a landmark agreement to open two new luxury hotels in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Slated to open in 2025, InterContinental Chiang Rai Golden Triangle Resort will feature 68 one- and two-bedroom pool and plunge villas. The existing 68-suite The Imperial Golden Triangle Resort will be renovated and converted to the Kimpton Chiang Rai Golden Triangle. These properties will mark IHG’s debut in Thailand’s Golden Triangle, a region popular among tourists for its scenic mountain and river landscape bordering Myanmar and Laos. The two hotels will include restaurants and bars by the river, offering lifestyle cruise experiences that will connect Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. The Kimpton brand launched in Thailand three years ago and now has six open or pipeline properties, including two operational hotels in Bangkok and Koh Samui. Currently, IHG has 34 hotels under nine brands and 39 hotels in the pipeline across Thailand. The group is set to double its portfolio in the next three to five years.
