Amazing Greece Team The beaches of Parga are some of the most beautiful beaches on the Ionian Sea Coast. The most popular and most visited beaches in the Parga area are: Valtos, Krioneri, Piso Krioneri, Lichnos, Sarakiniko, Agios Ioannis, and other smaller and more isolated beaches that can be reached by boat.
You can enjoy a variety of water sports, from water skiing, diving, snorkeling, surfing, to fishing, depending on the facilities that each beach offers.
Lichnos Beach – Parga
Lichnos beach, located 4 km south of the city, is one of the most famous beaches in the resort of Parga.
Lichnos beach is surrounded by greenery and olive groves which, in combination with the blue and clean water of the Ionian Sea, create a dreamy atmosphere for a quiet and relaxing vacation.
Near Lichnos beach, several cafes and taverns serving delicious dishes are open. The beach is accessible by car, by boat from Parga port or on foot. Near the beach, 5 minutes by boat or hydrobike, there is the cave of Aphrodite where, according to legend, the goddess of love and beauty used to bathe.
Valtos Beach – Parga
Valtos Beach is located at west of Parga, at the base of the hill where the Venetian Castle was built. It is located at a distance of 20 minutes on foot from the city and is accessible by car, bicycle or boat.
Valtos Beach is located in the southern part of the Parga resort and stretches for approximately 3 km, along a beautiful bay guarded by the Venetian Castle.
Valtos beach is the most beautiful and popular beach in Parga, sought after by families with children, but also by the lovers of water sports.
From the accommodation units in the area, you can reach Valtos beach either by going down the streets or stairs leading to the beach, by car, or from the sea by boat, the Valtos beach being stormed by boats leisure and appreciated for its beauty.
On the side facing the Venetian Castle, the beach is narrower (10-15 m) with small, round pebbles that create a special sensation when touching the soles, practically massaging the feet. The entrance to the sea is quite steep, just a few meters from the shore, the depth exceeding the height of a man, so don’t
leave children unattended!
The southern part of Valtos beach is much wider (50-60 m), it has fine sand both on the beach and at the entrance to the sea.
The approximately 3km of beach has facilities such as sunbeds and umbrellas, showers, lifeguard center, centers for renting water sports equipment, and along it there are numerous bars, restaurants and taverns where you can order refreshing drinks or a frappe, but you can also have a meal if bathing in the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea has made you hungry.
The rental rate for a beach umbrella and two sunbeds is 10 euros/day and, unlike other resorts in Greece, at this price you are not offered coffee or drinks by the restaurants that manage the respective beach area.
On the opposite side of the Venetian Castle, there is a small marina where you can rent a boat or a steamboat to explore the surroundings of Parga.
Near the marina is the Michael&George water sports equipment rental center where you can rent water scooters, canoes and hydro bikes.
Krioneri Beach – Parga
Krioneri beach is the main beach in Parga, located very close to the center of the resort. There are taverns, cafes and shops. Near Krioneri beach is the small island of Virgin Mary, which can be reached by swimming or by hydrobike.
In the middle of the summer season, this becomes one of the most crowded beaches in the region.
Sarakinino Beach – Parga
Sarakiniko beach, located approximately 12 km from Parga, near the village of Agia, is a very quiet beach with stones and sand. Even if it is not a popular beach, Sarakiniko beach offers multiple facilities for spending free time (swimming, fishing, hydrobike or boat rentals, diving and snorkeling).
Sarakiniko has several taverns that offer traditional Greek dishes.
According to a legend, the beach got its name from the Sarakini pirates who, following a storm, were shipwrecked in the bay. The beach is accessible by water taxi from the port of Parga or by car.
Agios Ioannis Beach – Parga
Agios Ioannis beach is a small, beautiful beach, located 6 km far from Parga. This has both small white pebbles and sand. The rocks surrounding Agios Ioannis beach protect it from strong winds and bad weather, the beach being ideal for relaxing in the sun and swimming in the blue water.
Our recommendation for tourists is to wear special shoes when going swimmin because there are stones in the sea and walking on them can be quite uncomfortable.
The area offers facilities for practicing water sports. Also, a parking lot is available for visitors.
Agios Sostis Beach – Parga
Agios Sostis beach is located 1 km from Sarakino beach, being more isolated, without facilities such as restaurants, cafes or water sports.
Many people consider this an opportunity to relax in peace, without too much crowding around.
The beach has pebbles and water perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Ai-Sostis beach is accessible by boat from the port of Parga. It takes 20 minutes and this method is recommended because of the road to the beach, which is not in very good conditions.
Piso Krioneri Beach – Parga
Piso Krioneri beach is located near Krioneri, a short distance from the center of Parga.
The beach is protected by a hill known as “St. Athanasios”, named after the small church on the hill. This natural shelter protects the beach from unfavorable weather conditions.
Piso Krioneri is smaller than Krioneri and is less crowded, but very well organized and has various facilities for tourists.
Some places to visit near the beach are: the beautiful island of Virgin Mary- a few minutes’ ride by hydrobike – and the Skordas and Kremidas rocks, both located on the left side of the island.
Town Beach, located at a short distance from the city center, is actually a stretch of sand overlooking the small green island of the Mother of God (Panagia).
