Bad Hofgastein is a small municipality in the province of Salzburg - in the centre of Austria. Bad Hofgastein is known with its population of about 6800 as a spa and winter sports community. Bad Hofgastein is located at the widest point of the Gastein valley, a reason why it became the capital. In the historic centre is a pedestrian zone with shops, cafes and restaurants. The Alte Post is a hotel built in 1421, a time when Austria was still a duchy and Salzburg an independent archbishopric. Many years have passed since then; the old postal station has become an inn and now ourhotel. We have taken over the management of the hotel in 1993, constantly improving it with great care and adapting it to the holiday needs of the 21st century. In this way our jewel: the Edelweiss Spa came into being among other things.

In 2008, the temporarily last generous renovation was completed. We have thereby removed and rebuilt the attached house, and brought it into line with the main house. Today, 20 new, modern rooms are located there.

Our hotel is optimally connected to the hiking and skiing area Gasteiner Valley. The valley station of Schlossalmbahn is just a short walk away - Your gateway to the ski resort Gastein. Even the Alpentherme and the spa gardens are just 2 minutes away from the Hotel Alte Post. In the house we offer you all year long various rooms and suites.
