“Crug Farm’s stand is the most exciting
display I’ve ever seen.”
Carol Klein
“Chelsea should be about the exchange of
ideas and information and seeing something
you had either forgotten or never encountered
before. On this front, it was Crug Farm Plants
that was surely the star of the tent this year.
Most of the plants I had never seen before,
which is always refreshing, and though modest
in size with a lack of obvious colour, the
exhibit of curiosities turned heads.”
Dan Pearson
“A thing of jungly excitement, filled with
strange shapes and enigmatic colours, it's suited
equally to city gardens and to sheltered country
enclaves.A few Crûg Farm specialties will
turn the under-storey of an arboretum, a
shrubbery, or a bamboo grove into a place of
fascination.”
Country Life Mark Griffiths
“Knowledgeable gardeners
can be found wandering in
a dazed or agitated state.”
Roy Lancaster

MEET BRITAIN’S
MOST INFLUENTIAL
GARDENERS
Who, among the great and good of
horticulture, truly shape the way we
garden?
Proprietors of the most influential nursery in
the United Kingdom, the Wynn-Joneses are
celebrated for their practice of travelling the
world (most recently Korea and Japan) in
search of new plants to bring home, raise and
then offer for sale. Stocks are of course
limited, which only adds to the allure. They
describe their nursery as a “mecca” for plants
enthusiasts – and for once the epithet is
justified.
Tim Richardson
“This year I'm particularly excited about a
new exhibitor, Crug Farm from North Wales,
and probably the front runner of current plant
collecting in the world.
They have introduced more plants in gardens
in the last 10 years than many people have
in the last century. I'm really looking forward
to seeing their exhibit because it will be very
special."
Michael Hickson
How do we top a year like the last? Starting
with The RHS Vincent Square Flower show in
February where we were awarded a Gold
Medal. Followed in March by an award for the
best exhibitor new to the London Flower
Shows 2010. The crowning glory, if you like,
was sweeping the board at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal
and The (coveted) President’s Award. Lots of publicity at the time, but
all came back down to earth very soon, as life goes on and we have to
produce the goods.
We must acknowlage that we are backed by a conscientious workforce
and helpers, without which none of the above could have been achived.
Without forgetting all the support from our loyal customers, you are
our (modern day) sponsors it is up to you how much we can afford to
invest in collecting these sensational plants together.
Sue felt she could not leave the nursery during the autumn, despite my
insistence on yet another foray to the mountains of northern Vietnam.
We kept in close contact most days thanks to Skype and it worked well.
I was able to bestow my input from afar, while getting on with the
serious business of gathering seed before it disappear for ever. That was
the most disturbing message I returned home with, we had been under
the impression that the areas were well protected, but alas we were
witness to some distressing sites. Such as around 100 people chopping
away at a primary forest where we had previously collected seed of
many gems, only found within that small area of the National Park. Our
accompanying wardens, which we as foreign collectors had to finance,
did not even bat an eye at the sight of this carnage. Similar sights
became the norm throughout the area, but we managed to collect
plenty of new gems to introduce in the future.
Don’t forget we accept appointments all year round to collect
containerised plants or select open ground plants for lifting at a
mutually convenient time. Our sales area will not be open over the
winter months, but the plants are accessible to our staff.
As always all the details of our opening hours are on the back cover of
this list as well as a list of our events. For those of our customers who
are unable to visit the nursery we are offering an online shopping
experience, with deliveries throughout the UK and Europe, from
www.mailorder.crug-farm.co.uk. Where there are search facilities
by many criteria (i.e. colour), as well as by plant name, while indicating
availability, pot sizes and prices. Our carrier, City Link offer an
overnight fragile service, which should have your plants delivered in
fresh condition before 5.30pm the following day to dispatch (UK).We
have specially made boxes in 3 sizes giving us the option of dispatching
plants from 30cm (1ft) to 295cm (10ft) tall. Our carriage charges are by
the box, (volume not weight) hence please consider ordering enough
plants to fill a box, rather than one plant as the carriage charge would
be the same. There is no minimum charge for the plants purchased. For
additional queries on plant availability etc contact Sue at
mailorder@crug-farm.co.uk. We try our best to reply to any
queries, a brief e-mail can be the surest way of a prompt reply. For any
other information visit our nursery website via www.crugfarm.co.uk
where there is additional information on our events,
accommodation and some seasonal plantings.
1
Please note the lay-out of the following list avoiding repetition of
collected plants, (etc signifying more collections available) the full list
and descriptions are on our mailorder web-site where space is
unlimited. Here there are not only descriptions of all of our plants, but
photographs of most as well, this information is also accessible on the
computer in our sales-area.We should forewarn our customers that as
the season progresses many of our lines will be out of stock. Conversely
new lines highlighted bold on this list, will be offered from January 1st
on as they become available. Please note that some of the plants are
ordinarily only available bare rooted, ✿ indicating those plants.
Some notes on our 2012 introductions :-
Herbaceous
It is not often that we introduce a grass even if it is a sedge, Carex
scaposa KWJ12304 is not only an exception, but is exceptional.
Originating from that beloved mountain that I keep on
whittering on about, Fansipan in the very north of Vietnam. For
us it has formed tight tussocks, 40-50cm tall of broad (probably
very for a sedge) at 5cm, pleated or conspicuously veined leaves,
spreading to around 60cm (2ft) wide since 2007. Undoubtedly it
will be declared as one of the most ornamental of its genus, as not
only is the foliage ornamental, but the pink inflorescences which
are retained for months are, I suspect as good as it gets.We do not
come across many Euphorbia on our travels, but on finding E.
pallasii BSWJ8575 in the forests of Korea we were reminded of
those that we had seen and collected in the Himalayas. For us it
has made itself at home forming a good sized clump of long
upright stems to around a meter long with deep green foliage
with contrasting venation, all topped by an acid yellow
inflorescence. From the cold forests of Aomori in the north of
Honshu, Japan we were fortunate to find large colonies of tall
upright wiry stems bearing large palmate leaves below a haze of
frothy seed-heads, which on flowering were revealed to be
Filipendula multijuga BSWJ10950 a pink flowered species,
another chunky perennial to accompany blush pink flowered F.
yezoensis also collected from this area.We have been playing with
Gunnera killipiana BSWJ9009 for many years, inducing it to
bear seed so we can satisfy the inevitable demand for such an
ornamental and majestic introduction, originating from one of
our collections from the volcanic slopes of Guatemala in 2001. It
may not be as large as other species in cultivation at around 1.5m
tall, but the leaf venation is ornamentally emphasised in red hues,
this combined with a red long conical inflorescence places this
high in the ornamental ranking. Hostas are not the easiest plants
to identify such is/was the case with Hosta aff. rhodeifolia
BSWJ10862 another collection from the north of Honshu. It is
without doubt a very garden worthy species affording a generous
floral display with tall scapes to 1m with a terminal raceme of
funnel-shaped purplish flowers in July-August. From good
company, as can be seen from our new woody introductions,
originating from the lofty volcanic slopes of the Azores Leontoden
31
igens BSWJ12527 did not take long to make itself at home here
in one of our stock fields. Flowering for months on end until the
first hard frosts curtail the display of fine yellow ray flowers held
in wide dense corymbs, above the large paddle-shaped leaves,
serrated so deeply they appear ragged at their edges. From even
higher mountains of Ehime, the north-western part of the
Japanese island of Shikoku, comes another ray-flowered perennial
species, Parasenecio farfarifolia CWJ12844 formerly Cacalia.
Preferring some shade as do so many of these finer quality
Asteraceae, taller and more robust than most we grow bearing
terminal panicles of yellow-white flowers above the deeply
serrated variable shaped foliage. Patrinia rupestris BSWJ12654 is
attracting some attention from scientists regarding compounds
discovered in its roots. We collected the seed because of its more
aesthetic attractions with a more finely divided lacy foliage than
other species we have encountered. Only forming a short plant to
20cm with a broad cyme of yellow flowers, where we gathered the
seed, although it is described as being capable of attaining a metre.
Phlomis breviflora HWJCM250 on the other hand is normally
around a metre tall for us growing in a rather exposed field since
we collected and germinated the seed back in 1995/6. It may not
be the most stunning floral display, but the short white to blush
flowers are pleasant enough combined with the plant’s structure
and foliage. Of the same ilk I suppose is Rhodiola yunnanensis
BWJ7941which has shared the same field, while we have slowly
built up stocks since my collection in China back in 2000.
Affording us a muted display with its combination of yellowish
terminal long panicles on bright red leafy stems. Salvia seboana
BSWJ10236 is a name change out of the blue, pun intended. One
of the best hardy species introduced in recent year, even if I have
to sing our own praises, under the name of S. vitifolia. Which is
apparently only half the size of this new species, only described to
science as recently as last November. Hardiness certainly is not the
problem with Saussurea japonica BSWJ12672 as this collection
was gathered from the challenging conditions of Waraksan, a
mountainous area of the cold interior of South Korea. A tall
species with lyre-shaped leaves which are white below, drainage is
all important with the likes of these. And so it is with Solanum
elaeagnifolium, a kind donation from a colleague. With dusty
foliage sunlight and drainage sounds imperative. The herbaceous
members of the honeysuckle family are more intriguing that
beautiful, although the display of red fruit we obtain from
32
Triostemon himalayanum has been stunning for many years when
grown in good light. Therefore we are trying our hand with the
white fruiting T. pinnatifidum, which incidentally hybridises with
the former.
More notes on our 2012 introductions :-
Woodies including some climbers primarily from our own wild seed
collections
Acer was not always at the top of our menu when out collecting
seed, A. duplicatoserratum BSWJ6886 or A. palmatum v. pubescens
as it was known as at that time is in part responsible. The resulting
seedlings of this Taiwanese endemic hit the spot for me. Relegated
to our windswept stock field they have never failed to catch my eye
no matter what the season. Unfortunately return as we might to the
same location to collect more seed ends in disappointment, hence
scarce it will remain. Our luck with A. okamotoanum or what is
correctly now known as A. pictum ssp. okamotoanum was a
happier encounter. The seed was fat and green with plenty for the
taking, another endemic, this time of the South Korean remote
island of Ullüngdõ. Germinating early until I happened to read that
the seed is difficult to germinate, it stopped ……… weird or what?
Relief mixed with achievement were our emotions on re-finding
Aristolochia manshuriensis BSWJ12557 one of our key target
plants for our 2010 expedition to South Korea. Again one of our
most prized plants, given pride of place in our sales area where the
large heart-shaped leaves unfurl after the large (for a hardy species)
flowers have made their glowing display. Personally I would grow it
for its foliage alone, the autumn yellow is astounding. A. contorta
BSWJ12613 has a different climbing habit, prior to this find we
had only encountered it creeping along the ground close to the
seashore. Hence finding this collection growing well in the centre
of the country (where the winter temperatures would be very low)
climbing over large shrubs and presenting us with some fat rounded
seed capsules, left me scratching my head for an identification.
Callicarpa japonica BSWJ12621 was a collection from the same
day, only forming small to medium sized shrubs in the area,
differing in its variety that we already grow with larger foliage.
Chaenomeles cathayensis is raised from seed from Ness Botanic
Gardens, the original plants being from a seed collection gathered
in China. They had formed multi-stemmed sprawling large shrubs
there, in a small colony. The ground was strewn with the large
yellow fruit, which I found irresistible and scooped up a whole bag
of them to place in a bowl in the house. The fragrance was
intoxicating for weeks until a friend offered to transform them into
a jelly. Cotoneaster ganghobaensis B&L12234 was another
outstanding collection from Ness, the small shrubs of glossy foliage
were so outstanding in fruit, that it took little convincing for me to
collect some of it, has to be one of the best. Northern Vietnam is a
host to many unfamiliar species of Clematis it was not until our
fourth visit there that we were able to collect the large seed heads
of C. aff. smilacifolia BSWJ11767 all be it still in a green state. As
well as more collections, of this evergreen species with pronounced
cup-shaped nodes, as cuttings from juvenile plants, which were
50
purple on the undersides of the leaves, as well as silver patterned on
the reverse side. Cornus kousa BSWJ12610 is another fresh
replacement collection from South Korea, this time hardly
requiring an introduction. Shame I lost my photos (faulty memory
card) I could have proved how bright and heavy the crop of plump
fruit were. I have a soft spot for Corylus maybe it’s the squirrel in
me, even as a child my parents would not see me for days as I used
to roam the hills surrounding our farm collecting hazel nuts. C.
sieboldiana BSWJ11056 was from a bit further away from home, I
had seen it once before when in Korea in 1993, so it was like
meeting up with an old friend when we came across a loaded
specimen in Hiroshima Japan in 2005.The fruit are easily identified
totally encased in the calyx which converge into a tail. Rolling back
time to 1996 we were in the mountains of southern Taiwan where
we collected seed of Deutzia taiwanensis for the first time.We are still
waiting for it to flower! >> ff to 2007 to the forests of northern
Taiwan and here we found Deutzia taiwanensis BSWJ12443 a
daintier form. They germinated well so we commandeered a patch
of our windswept stock field for some spare seedlings, blow me they
flowered the very next summer as they have every year since. Even
shrugging off the past three winters of at least –10C. Drimys
lanceolata is a stalwart in our gardens, with both male and female
plants dotted around, hence we have plenty of its black fruit around
clasping the deep red stems. As we are asked for it so often we have
managed to raise some seedlings to offer those who do not seem to
be able to find it elsewhere. Elaeocarpus is a fairly well known tree
or shrub in warmer parts of the world, bearing lovely fringed
flowers against a foil of dramatic foliage. Our collection of E. aff.
griseopuberulus WWJ12110 originates from the more temperate
mountain forests of northern Vietnam where we gathered the
walnut-like fruit. Originating from the same mountain forests as
our Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Di-Sue-Shan' as well as of course the same
family is our latest collection Fatsia polycarpa deeply cut leaf
BWJ12499. Easily distinguished from our previous collections
with deeper, narrower and more numerous leaf-lobbing, still
maintaining the more colourful gold-bronze inflorescences
contrasting with the pincushion-like umbels of creamy flowers in
the depth of winter. Coincidentally staying with this family Hedera
sinensis v. sinensis KWJ12345 is a puzzling collection seeming to
have more in common with the larger leafed species from closer to
home.We have found it in several locations around the Hoang Lien
mountain range in the very north of Vietnam, where we find so
many hardy plants in this surprisingly temperate area. This area is
also rich in hydrangeas, a new name to this year’s offering is
Hydrangea davidii which could be considered as just a name
change. As these collections were previously offered as H.
indochinensis. Whereas what we were offering as H. kwangsiensis is
now considered to be H. indochinensis a species with glabrous thick
textured semi-evergreen leaves. Confused you have every right to
be, I certainly am. A postscript in mitigation, the picture regarding
51
hydrangeas in this part of the world is confused due to (in theory)
hybridisation with Dichroa. Schizophragma molle WWJ11905 is
another name change from the same family, even collected from the
same area, introduced into cultivation by ourselves as S. aff.
elliptifolium. You may be please to hear that we found more of it last
autumn as well as another species still to be determined. H.
asterolasia BSWJ10481 is from the other side of the world our
gathering from the high plateau of Cordillera de Talamanca in
Costa Rica. A climbing evergreen species with wide cymes of
creamy white flowers backed by glossy textured leaves with
conspicuous venation. While we are in the Americas let me move
south to the stunning central mountain range of Colombia where
we found Oreopanax floribundus BSWJ10669 growing at high
altitude on the edge of a dense forest. It took a considerable amount
of research to identify (many thanks to Julian Shaw, for this and
many more) as the only species I was familiar with had compound
leaves made up of leaflets in a similar fashion to Schefflera. This
species has distinct palmate leaves, covered in bristly hair thickly so
on the contrasting pale undersides, while the individual plants are
dioecious (plants either male or female) bearing large terminal
paniculate inflorescences. Moving smartly back to the mountains of
Japan, this time where Finlay Colley and myself spent some time
high up in the frozen alpine forests of Ehime. The large bright red
pendulous long infructescences of Idesia polycarpa CWJ12837
were irresistible. We had seen them prior to this in southern Taiwan
in 2007, but from this frozen cloud drenched location they must
have less demand for heat. Hence should perform far better in our
climate. From much further north in the mountains of Aomori Ilex
sugerokii BSWJ10856 grew in almost arctic conditions, as a
compact bun-like shrub with small ovate-serrated thick textured
leaves bearing large(ish) red fruit on long stalks. While from a less
challenging Azorian mountainside I. perado ssp. azorica
BSWJ12526 is also kept compact by its high latitudinal
provenance. Growing with the odd Hedychium gardnerianum that can
survive the more challenging conditions as well as the Viburnum
discussed below. Back to the mountains of northern Vietnam where
Illicium aff. lanceolatum KWJ12245 and I. aff. majus KWJ12017
are yet two more of our collections of this desirable genus
originating from one of the worlds hotspots of diversity. We as well
as The Arnold Arboretum believe that we have already collected
eight species in this small area, with still more turning up. From
South Korea we collected seed of Lagerstroemia indica
BSWJ12660 a common site even in inland cold areas, but best sited
in strong sun in our more northerly latitude. These will only be
small plants initially, offered at this size as we have such a high
demand for this genus, running out of room to grow them on as
they enlarge. Neoshirakia sebiferum CWJ12819 is another
candidate for a hot sunny site (formerly Sapium) differing to N.
japonica in its more conspicuous inflorescences especially in fruit
which splay open to reveal the waxy seed (hence the name tallow
52
tree). Mahonia gracilipes is also added this year as it is so worthy of
being grown in any garden. The sunlight on the leaf undersides in
winter is a must for anyone who has a garden with a slope. Nandina
domestica BSWJ11113 had been placed unceremoniously into one
of our growing beds in our exposed stock field, where they have
matured to wonderful colourful multi-stemmed compact shrubs.
Must be our Welsh gales. Persea indica BSWJ12535 would appear
only to be found on the Azores, not able to resist attempting
another species of these wonderful evergreens that were formerly
Machilus a member of the Laurel family. Another top ranking
evergreen is Rhodoleia parvipetala WWJ11943, but this time from
the Hamamelis family, which is difficult to equate to the more
Rhododendron-like pink flowers on this species. In danger of
repeating myself, I would grow this for its foliage alone, the
contrasting white (and I mean white) leaf undersides stir
inequitable passions in any plant freak. Hope you’re not on overload
of my ramblings just yet, as there are a few more to go. Sarcococca
zeylanica BSWJ10199 etc is our latest addition our long inventory
of Christmas box. The epithet may not be obvious to non-Latin
scholars, but translates to Ceylon which of course is now Sri Lanka.
We thought we had done well to find S. brevifolia there in 2002, (on
a blinkered search for Disporum) as I had not done my homework
before visiting there. Again in our defense, it was our fifth area of
collection that season. Imagine my dismay on discovering the
mention of a second species only when at home. It was a good
excuse to spend Christmas of 2003 there though. Finding our quest
easily just a hundred yards from where we turned around the
previous year. There has to be a lesson or two to be learnt there.
There has also to be a prize for not confusing the following two.
Schisandra sphaerandra BWJ7739 is within the same group as S.
grandiflora and S. rubiflora, i.e. with large (within the genus) scented
flowers. Oxblood in this case, followed on the female plants by the
long strings of bright red fruit. The fruit of S. sphenanthera
BWJ8151 are a distinct deep red, while the flowers are orangeyellow,
revealing this specie’s true identity, as we have been offering
it as S. aff. bicolor before. From section Multijugae of the genus
Sorbus, S. bissetii Yu14299 was rescued from obscurity or even
extinction at Ness BG. A small leafed species with eventual white
fruit, this species is in good company, still worthy of its space as it is
sufficiently distinct. From the section Discolores is another
outstanding white fruiting species that has come to us via Ness BG.
S. discolor MF97103 is a sturdier larger leafed species with foliage
not too dissimilar to our native mountain ash while the abundant
fruit is pure white, held in weighted pendant panicles. S. aff.
vilmorinii KR6453 is a more complex species (even worthy of a
cultivar name) which our boffins at Ness BG are having difficulty
pinning down to a species. Nonetheless it is a top rated plant with
relatively large white fruit lacking the crimson-red on the
immature fruit. Forming a ‘highly attractive, heavily fruiting tree’ at
Ness BG. Stephania japonica one of the moon seeds, represented by
53
my collection CWJ12823, is virtually unknown in cultivation. It is
an herbaceous twinning climber with delicate looking peltate
leaves. The young foliage has translucent properties, which I just
find irresistible. Imagine my delight on finding a grove of mature
plants in southern Japan with Finlay Colley during our foray in the
autumn of 2010. Didn’t take long to gather that red fruit into my
bag. Red fruit is also an important feature of Viburnum
hoanglienense BSWJ8281, essentially a name change which we are
delighted to have played a major part in. In so much as it is one of
our discoveries, named for the Hoang Lien mountain range where
we have collected the distinct plump long persistent fruit several
times. This against the foil of distinctly softly hairy dark green
textured foliage. V. fansipanense BSWJ8302, as with the preceding
species, is another of our discoveries also from the same mountain
range, but this time named for the highest peak Fansipan. The
foliage is long-elliptic with conspicuous venation, evergreen for us,
but may well be deciduous in colder areas. All the same we are
treated to some good autumn colour. The species is distinct in its
long pure white cylindrical flowers with contrasting black
protruding stamen, held in rounded cymes. Followed by oblong red
fruit produced in abundance continuing the ornamental quality of
this species into the winter. The pointed fruit of V. tinus v.
subcordatum BSWJ12544 are purple held in large tight rounded
cymes as naturally would be the white flowers which are produced
in the winter months. From the limited experience we have had
with this distinct variety of this most popular of evergreen shrubs it
appears hardier than one would expect from its origins in the
Azores, but that may well be because of the altitude we gathered the
fruit from. I have distinct memories of collecting the fruit of
Zanthoxylum bungeanum Sichuan Pepper BWJ8040 from a hot
dusty roadside in Sichuan, when it was pointed out to me as being
the cause of many of our fiery meals over the past weeks. Having
virtually overdosed on it my enthusiasm was not quite at its peak,
hence I only gathered a few seed. Not taking into consideration
that if you add red hot chillies at equal proportions as the
accompanying food ones food does get on the fiery side. The
upshot of it all is that I ended up with a solitary plant from which
it has taken me many years to produce seed to propagate from. But
at least I know the plants are self compatable.
New cultivar names we are allocating
Primarily to conform with international nomenclature rules even
though not all the plants will be added to our list this season.
Hydrangea serrata 'Crûg Bicolor' BSWJ6241c
One of four selected seedlings originating from one of our seed
collections gathered from the Mt. Unzen area of Kyushu, Japan in
1998. Of a very floriferous small form of this amenable deciduous
lacecap species hydrangea, bearing corymbs of strong blue lace-cap
54
(pink in acid soil) flowers May-October the sterile florets ageing
pink eventually flipping over once the fertile flowers are pollinated,
giving a bicoloured effect. While the foliage ages to a purple cast if
exposed to sun, as in the field where we grow the mother plants,
which are still only 1.3m (just over 4ft) tall without pruning at
around 12 years old.
Polygonatum falcatum 'Shikoku Silver' BSWJ5101
A variable yet beautiful thoroughly confused (in horticulture)
species, which typically has long slender arching stems to 85cm
long. Bearing long crescent shaped alternate leaves, but in this
selection they are smaller on shorter stems, while being attractively
silver striped down the centre for some time after emerging
gradually fading to dark green. Bearing white bell-like flowers with
green tips, in pendant axillary clusters during May and June. Our
collection from forest edges on the island of Shikoku Japan. Also
known as ''silver-striped''.
Schisandra rubriflora 'Bodnant Redberry'
A woody climber of medium size, forming tangles in small trees and
shrubs with vigorously twinning stems of small ovate-acute
deciduous leaves on red petioles. Bearing scented cup-shaped
scarlet axillary flowers June-July, soon followed by pendant spikes to
20cm long, of bright red fruit on this female clone, if pollinated. A
clone originating from Bodnant Gardens much admired in our
walled garden for the past 25 years, both for its fruit and flower.
Easily grown in humus-enriched soil in part shade-full sun. (Note)
Male and female flowers are normally born on separate unisexual plants
(dioecious) in this group (Pleiostema) of Schisandra.
*** This plant is scheduled to be added to our list in 2013
Tricyrtis formosana v. grandiflora 'Long-Jen Violet' RWJ10095
A large flowered variety, which we collected a seedling of from
constantly dripping cliffs in the restricted area of the Long-Jen
Valley near Hualien Eastern Taiwan in 2003. Distinct as the flowers
stand out for months by their sheer size, much larger flowers than
the normalT. formosana. Forming a lax much branched plant with
many upwardly inclined widely opening broadly funnel-shaped
spidery violet to white bicoloured flowers to 6cm across spotted
purple-red, with faintly yellow-tinged throats, on leafy stems to
75cm long from late July to November. Named for the valley it
originates from and flower colour.
