Marina Port Göcek - The Turkish Way of Sailing

Location & Approach
On the northwestern side of Fethiye Bay in Turkey, you’re going to find the town of Gocek, a town with more than its fair share of marinas, 4 to be precise. Among these, there’s the Port Gocek Marina, which is 5 minutes away from the Gocek village center, in a sheltered bay for additional protection to the vessels.

The region is famous among the community for its round the year sailing opportunities and for the easy accessibility, since Gocek is just 22km from Dalaman International Airport which flies to most European cities during the summer. In winter, connections are made via Istanbul or from Antalya by plane.

The coordinates of the marina are 36 ° 44'9 N 28 ° 56'6 E, but further instructions are needed since there are a lot of marinas in the region. The approach is best made with the assistance of the marina crew and for this you should contact them in advance on VHF channel 73, for best results at least 15 minutes before your boats reaches the marina.

From the south the marina can be reached by taking a northern course from Peksimet island leaving Kapidagi peninsula and Tersane island on your portside. Once you pass Tersane island, head northeast to arrive to Yassica island from where you can see Gocek island and the lighthouse. From there, take your vessel through the narrows to reach the marina, which is the first on your starboard side.

To reach the marina from the 12 Islands you must keep a northeasterly course until Port Gocek appears on your starboard side. The first thing you’ll see is the pontoon marked with buoys. In order to enter the marina, turn your boat on a northwesterly course. Once in the marina, the staff will guide you to your berth.

Infrastructure & Ambience
The marina has a capacity of 380 berths for yachts of up to 45m. All berths have electricity, water and cable TV connections with the added possibility of connecting to wireless internet access, which is somewhat better than most marinas throughout the Mediterranean can offer.  Also there are 2 luxurious blocks with toilets and showers and an added laundry on the site which are for customers.

The rest of the facilities are made up of luxurious restaurants, cafes and bars, a private beach, an art gallery, a supermarket and other shopping facilities, buggies for travelling around the marina, breakfast delivered to your yacht on request, an ATM, private lockers, a service station, medical services (including sea ambulance) and a yacht club. As you can see, the marina here is pretty well stocked and equipped to handle most of your basic needs and even some of the more uncommon.

The boatyard on location can help you perform a series of repair and maintenance services with the help of a 70t travel lift, a slipway and a hydraulic boatmover. Among the repairs you can do here there are engine, machinery, welding, electric, carpentry, upholstery, awning, sails, painting, plumbing, rigging and electronic services available.

The local Yacht Club organizes a series of events throughout the year and operates as part of the Turkish Sailing Federation. Among the most appreciated by the community are the sailing lessons and the regattas.
