OCEANA, WV (WVNS) — A man pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to register
as a sex offender on March 11, 2024.

According to Gregory Bishop, the Wyoming County Prosecutor, on January 29th, 2024, Trooper P.M. Browning was on patrol in Clear Fork, WV when a woman pulled up beside him and told him that a man was walking northbound on the highway, causing her to swerve left of center to avoid hitting him.

Trooper Browning shortly after located the man, who was later identified as James R. Lewis, Jr. 53, of Oceana, WV. The Trooper further discovered that Lewis had violated sex offender registration requirements by failing to report the activation of a cell phone screen name.

Lewis will be sentenced on April 25, 2024.
