Centaurea raphanina ssp. raphanina is a Cretan (as well as Kassos and Karpathos) endemic subspecies of the more common Centaurea raphanina which is found in widespread locations in Greece. Here in Crete it grows at altitudes between 0 and 2000m in stony places, rocky slopes and phrygana. The flowers are pink and stalkless. The plant flowers between April and July.
