President Obama is an unapologetic Chicago White Sox fan. During a celebration at the White House honoring the 2013 World Series champion Boston Red Sox last month, Obama acknowledged: "Even a White Sox fan can appreciate these guys."
So, when he toured Cooperstown on Thursday of course President Obama took the opportunity to slip on the Word Series ring given to his hometown Sox when they won the championship in 2005. He also donated the White Sox jacket he donned to throw out the first pitch at the 2009 All Star Game -- see below -- to the Hall of Fame. In announcing the donation, Obama poked fun at the jeans he donned that night. “I hear that with all the media attention about it, there was also some interest in the jeans I wore that night,” Obama said. “But Michelle retired those jeans quite a while back.”
