20 rare photos of Romy Schneider
As the Cinémathèque is devoting a major retrospective to her next March, we take a look back at the most beautiful pictures of the icon in her daily life.
At barely 17 years old, Romy Schneider made her debut appearance in the role of Sissi which quickly launched her as the gem of Austria. It was in Paris, however, that she made her career. Highlights include her first steps in the theater with Alain Delon, directed by Luchino Visconti, starring in Henri-Georges Clouzot's Inferno, starred and The Swimming Pool by Jacques Deray and, of course, her rich collaboration with Claude Sautet. She has established herself as one of the most daring actresses of her time, starring in a wide spectrum of historical and modern films with roles as dark as they are bright. This March, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of her death, the Cinémathèque française will pay tribute to the actress of the French. The exhibition is a retrospective of her best films put into dialogue with extracts from her diary and includes interviews and rare footage from filming.
Here is the chance to look through this photo gallery of moments captured between film sets and coupled with the men of her life.
The Romy Schneider exhibition is from March 16 to July 31, 2022, at Cinémathèque française www.cinematheque.fr
