Statement of Significance
This turn of the century (c.1900) Hybrid Oak makes a significant aesthetic contribution to the rural landscape of Anlaby. It is linked to a prominent nineteenth century Anlaby identity, his Head Gardener and their development of the historic property and garden. This inter-specific hybrid of oak has a uniform canopy. It is a specimen of excellent health and growth vigour. Dry grown for over one hundred years its lush green canopy dominates the dry paddock it is growing in. It gives the rural landscape it is growing in an English parkland appeal.
