Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, says she'll be an "excellent" grandmother, but this 1999 clip from Oprah suggests she might be more of the "cool shopping trip" grandmother than the "homemade baked goods" sort.

In the video, Ferguson, better known to the public as "Fergie," joins Oprah in a spot to promote her then-upcoming weight loss advice tome Dieting with the Duchess. As part of the feature, the duo set about demonstrating a recipe for chocolate chip scones. The only problem? It appears that neither one of them had ever actually made a scone before.

"Could you please put, um, uh," Fergie verbally stumbles in the clip, snatching up a recipe card and squinting, laughingly through the directions. One of the least buttoned-up members of the extended royal family, Princess Eugenie's mother charmingly embraces a more Julia Child attitude for the video, playing up her lack of familiarity with the recipe for a joke with the host.

"Do you cook?" she asks the talk show icon as they debate how much of the pre-measured flour they should pour into the mixing bowl.

Oprah shrugs, "Uhhh, sure."

We're not sure who put together this spot for the show (or why no one walked either of the stars through the recipe in advance) but watching the Duchess of York and one of the most famous women in the world stare bemusedly at a dough cutter should be a balm to anyone who's ever gotten in over the head after too many confidence-boosting episodes of The Great British Baking Show.

Mary Berry they may not be, but the full video of this dynamic duo's baking fail is sure to bring a smile to your face:
