LADY Annabel Goldsmith is an English socialite who has spent years in some of London's most glamorous circles.

Who is Lady Annabel Goldsmith?
Lady Annabel was born in London in 1934 into an Anglo-Irish aristocratic family with its roots in Ulster and County Durham.
Born Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart was the daughter of Robin Vane-Tempest-Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh, who later became the 8th Marquess of Londonderry, and Romaine Combe, who was the daughter of Major Boyce Combe, from Surrey.
She became Lady Annabel as a young girl in February 1949 when her father became Marquess on the death of his father.
Her mum died of cancer in 1951, but the illness was kept a secret by her parents.
After that, her father became an alcoholic and died from liver failure at 52 in 1955.
She was educated at Southover Manor School in Sussex and Cuffy's Tutorial College in Oxford.
Queen Elizabeth II attended her coming-out ball in 1952.
As part of the London social circle, she is known for her sense of humour, down-to-earth personality, and love of children and dogs.
How many children does she have?
She is mother to Rupert, Robin and India Jane Birley and Jemima, Zac and Ben Goldsmith.
The socialite was first married to entrepreneur Mark Birley and became known in London as a society hostess.
During the 1960s and the 1970s, she gained notoriety in gossip columns for her extramarital affair with Sir James Goldsmith, who became her second husband.
Lady Annabel has referred to herself as "an incredible mother, rather a good mistress, but not a very good wife".
Having been married to two unfaithful men, she explained her marriage philosophy to the Times in 1987 saying: "I can never understand the wives who really mind, the wives who set such store by fidelity.
“How extraordinary, and how mad they are. Because, surely, if the man goes out and he comes back, it's not actually doing any harm."
Tragedy struck the family in July 2019 though when Lady Annabel's great niece was killed.
Iris Annabel, 15, died in a tragic quad bike accident which left her parents "devastated".
She was the first child of Ben and his ex-wife Kate Emma Rothschild, who are believed to have a joint fortune of more than £300million.

Lady Annabel is indeed the namesake of the swanky Mayfair nightspot.
It was founded 1963 by Mark Birley who was at that point her husband.
Birley's pal John Aspinall decided that they needed somewhere to party after an evening's gambling so Birley turned the basement of his mate’s casino, the Clermont Club, into a nightclub, naming it after his then wife.

Annabel's is a members-only nightclub and catered to an exclusive clientele located at 44 Berkley Square in London.
Members have included Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne, Richard Nixon, and Frank Sinatra.
In 2003, the Queen visited the club, and it is thought to be the only nightclub Her Majesty has ever been to, other than the even more fancy Whites on St James’s Street.
