Who is Sara Carbonero? Wife of Iker Casillas and sports TV presenter

One of Spain's most famous faces, Carbonero was voted 'The Sexiest Reporter in the World' in 2009

WIFE to one of the greatest goalkeepers of the modern era, Sara Carbonero is one of Spain's most recognisable celebrities.

A sports journalist and TV presenter, she has been a regular feature of the Telecinco channel since the early-2000s - and is married to Iker Casillas, who is currently in hospital after a suspected heart attack.

Who is Sara Carbonero?

BORN in the eastern region of Toledo in Spain, Carbonero moved away to study journalism in Madrid.

After securing her degree she took up a post with Marca radio as an intern, securing a full-time position just six months later.

Shortly after she joined Telecinco, where she spent the next 15 years fronting various sporting programs, before meeting former Real Madrid and Spain stopp Iker Casillas in 2009 .

Sara gave birth to their first son in 2014, before the pair married and had their second son Lucas in 2016.

Carbonero was infamously blamed for Switzerland scoring past her husband at the 2010 World Cup, as her film crew were just 60 yards away from Casillas during the game and allegedly distracting him.

What is Iker Casillas's condition in hospital?

The Spanish legend suffered a suspected heart attack during a training session with Porto on Wednesday, May 1.

Casillas was taken to the Hospital CUF where he is reported to be stable and "doing well".

This is expected to see him ruled out for the rest of the season, having made 42 appearances this term.
