The spectacular bloom of the purple trillium (Trillium erectum), seen in Lambton Woods in May 2015. This rare beauty is a spring ephemeral, a plant that blooms on the forest floor before the leaves in the tree canopy above it are fully out. Once the leaves come in, the blooms of spring ephemerals fade away quickly.

Can you have a perfect walk in an urban forest?

I have no doubt after participating in a guided stroll through Lambton Woods last week that could only be rated the Bo Derek of walks.
