Liriope 'Peedee Ingot' Details

Liriope muscari ‘Peedee Ingot’, commonly known as Purple Liriope or Lilyturf, is grown for its impressive foliage and lovely flowers. This herbaceous perennial grows as a clump and produces strap like, golden-yellow leaves up to 20 cm long. Stems rise above the foliage through summer and autumn bearing masses of light purple flowers. The flowers are long lasting and blend wonderfully with the foliage. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and 50 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. Leaf colouring will tend towards green as shade levels increase, however, and this can also occur during winter. This Lilyturf is tolerant of dry periods and coastal environments. It is also tolerant of moderate frost and may die back during winter in colder regions to regrow in spring when conditions warm, but otherwise it remains evergreen. Liriope ‘Peedee Ingot’ is an excellent choice for adding to a mixed planting, including in a border, or planting around outdoor living areas. This plant is used extensively in landscaping projects because of its hardiness, versatility, and great appearance year-round.
