Carex maorica is a fast growing, NZ native grass that features bright green, arching foliage. It produces distinctive, brown flower spikes through summer. The plant typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide and provides a great sanctuary for birds. It grows best in a damp position in either full sun or partial shade and can be planted into shallow water. This Carex is commonly used for environmental plantings such as establishing or restoring wetland areas, or planting around pond and stream margins.
