Ajuga reptans ‘Alba’, commonly known as Bugleweed, Common Bugle, or Carpet Bugle, is grown for both its impressive foliage and flowers. It forms a spreading mound of bright green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the large and showy spikes of white flowers from spring through summer. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 60 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site that does not dry out. It is frost hardy and will tolerate coastal environments as well as reasonable levels of shade. Ajuga reptans ‘Alba’ is commonly used as a groundcover, included in borders, used to transform a shady area, planted around outdoor living areas, or simply maintained in a container.
