Iberostar Grand Salomé

The Iberostar Grand Salomé is set shoulder to shoulder with other top-shelf hotels on the front line of the Costa Adeje beachfront. This 'hotel within a hotel' is an adult-only enclave within the family-friendly Iberostar Selection Anthelia. To one side, guests will discover the half-mile-long Fañabé Beach, while to the other there's the swanky Plaza Del Duque shopping rotunda and an assortment of luxury villas. Two golf courses are within a 10-minute drive, and boat trips leave from Puerto Colón, which is a 20-minute stroll up the promenade. Tenerife South Airport is a 20-minute taxi ride away. 

There's a nod to a contemporary Mediterranean style, with white, minimalistic design interspersed with splashes of green in the form of small lawns, potted shrubs and sentries of palms. Suite décor is placid rather than pretentious, mirroring the pale palette of the public areas. Those looking for an upscale beachfront base away from the boisterous will find this hotel fits the bill, with the bonus of adjoining resort facilities to punctuate the downtime if one so wishes.

A sense of pampering begins with a fast-track check-in involving a comfy sofa, a flute of champagne and a butler offering to unpack. They will also point out the spa, the two pools (where you'll find a pool concierge) and the gym, which is exclusive to guests of Salomé. By the time you arrive at your suite, complimentary cava and strawberries await. In public areas, the focus is on relaxation with staff on hand to create a five-star plus experience. Throughout the hotel, they are extremely professional and initiate cheery greetings on passing.

The 33 spacious suites are housed in a four-storey property in a secluded corner of the larger Iberostar Selection Anthelia complex. All comprise four areas: the living area, bedroom, bathroom and an ocean-view balcony or terrace with a daybed. Within those confines, guests find a pull-out sofa, yoga mat, minibar, full-sized bar and two large flatscreen televisions. The bathrooms feature fabulously large rainfall showers. 

Salomé guests have exclusive use of a poolside bar and restaurant from morning till late. There's also an à la carte breakfast area that serves a range of food and drink ranging from healthy smoothies to eggs Benedict and excellent pancakes. Guests also have free rein at the Hotel Anthelia's buffet restaurant and the Portofino Italian Restaurant. Poseidon Gourmet Restaurant is a particular highlight, serving dishes such as lobster with cucumber and kimuchi sauce and smoked salmon with spirulina and mustard sauce as guests enjoy views of the night-time fishing boats bobbing off Fañabé Beach.
