Rana esculenta

Rana esculenta

Rana esculenta lives in small overgrown ponds, river pools and channels. It spends most of its life in the water or near water. It does avoid very large pools with flowing water though. Its diet includes various insects. The adult frog is about 10 cm long. Its dorsal coloration is greyish-green, olive-green or green with dark spots, which vary in size. Rana esculenta is under protection in Poland from early March until the end of May. The Low Beskid - Pond near Black Creek - Rymanow Zdroj. - July 6, 2008.
