It's Daphne time! What a pleasure to walk through the garden and enjoy colour and
fragrance,especially in the evening.
Most of them have a strong scent and only a few species don't smell.
As you can see, there are two different forms of D.calcicola.

Some photos from Ian Christie of  Daphne

510506-0
D. circassica x arbuscula 'Maisie Larae' - Ian has  not tried  this outside yet.

510508-1
Daphne 'Kelsey Ann' from Rick Lupp,  it came from Czech growers to me a wee beauty

note from Anne Spiegel :
Daphne 'Kelsey An'n  was  named for one of Rick's
granddaughters and unfortunately didn't last here. The other
granddaughter (Maisie Larae) also had a daphne named for her and that
one is absolutely superb in the open garden and crevice garden.

510510-2
Daphne rosmarinifolius 'Gold Strike' collected 2003

510512-3
Daphne x 'Bonnie Glen' a recent hybrid from Cyril Lafong grows well out in our raised crevice bed

510516-1
Daphne arbuscula 'Star of Zizkov' from a  Czech grower  - a stunning form grows well out on our raised crevice bed also pot grown for show.

 510518-2
Ian Christie's young Daphnes - and his special staff member - by Olga Bondareva  8)
I think   Puss has gone to the great greenhouse in the sky now - but this is a nice memory.
