  • Transplants

It is always memorable when two great bands come together to make some amazing music together. The Transplants is a perfect example of just that. Marrying world-class drummer, Travis Barker and Vic Ruggiero and Matt Freeman from punk band Rancid. In fact, this whole project turned into a huge project where they called in reinforcements from Brody Dalle of The Distillers, Davey Havok of AFI, Eric Ozenne of The Nerve Agents and Son Doobie from Funkdoobiest to name a few of the musicians that featured on the Hellcats released self titled debut album. How would they possibly perform this live though with out these reinforcements, easy! They’re frontline is made up of two critically acclaimed singers themselves, so I’m thinking they will be just fine with this set that they are about to play. They walk out on to the RockFest stage in Quebec and launch with no time wasting into their song “In A Warzone”. There are moshpits breaking out everywhere in this midday heat, an explosion of bodies with people falling over and a lot of people helping people get up from the floor. “Silence” is one of the most punk rock songs of the set, seeing Travis Barker maintain a ridiculous tempo on the drums at the back of the stage. Everyone is singing along to The Transplants single “Tall Cans in the Air” which closes the set, in great style. Everyone is dancing or throwing themselves around this packed out festival field by the end of the set. A word to some this set up, and I mean this in the most positive way possible would be “Explicit”.
