Silver King Euonymus
Euonymus japonica 'Silver King'
A broadleaf evergreen shrub which works well for foundation plantings, hedges, or as a specimen plant. The glossy, oval leaves have medium to light green centers with silvery-white edges and the scallop-toothed margins common among euonymus. Stems on the current year's growth are a pale white-green. Its light colored foliage presents a nice contrast with darker foliaged plants. Flowers and seeds are sporadic and insignificant. Prefers afternoon shade, well-drained amended soils and organic surface mulch. Can take significant sun and poor soils, but is generally unhealthy in such conditions in our area. Requires minimal pruning unless a specific shape or size is desired. Synonym: Euonymus japonicus 'Silver King'.
