SkiWelt Brixen im Thale

Sunny, friendly, familiar: you can’t help but like Brixen

GENERAL

Brixen im Thale is one of the most diverse destinations in the SkiWelt. Broad pistes, numerous descents, a fantastic children’s ski area and the unique ALPENIGLU® igloo village of Hochbrixen – the SkiWelt Brixen im Thale offers plenty of variety to suit all requirements. The fact that the ski resort is based on the sunny side of the Brixental valley is another advantage: visitors can really enjoy their day of skiing to the full here…

ADVANCED / LEISURE SKIERS

Ambitious skiers will find a wide range of pistes of varying difficulty levels in Brixen: the descent from the Hohe Salve peak (accessible via Hopfgarten or Söll) across the southern slope is a special experience but the pistes of the Kälbersalve lifts are also popular with ski carving fans. There are no fewer than three valley descents to choose from in Brixen: the ‘regular’ valley descent with numerous medium-steep slopes and exciting transitions, the unique ‘Kaslach’ natural snow descent (only open in suitable snow conditions – including several steep sections and edges) and of course, a special tip for experts: the Tanzer-Abfahrt (Tanzer Descent): one of the most beautiful valley descents in the SkiWelt. The landscapes are particularly charming and easy to enjoy. In terms of the return journey, a bus shuttle service transports adventure skiers back to Brixen valley station. And another tip: the SkiWelt gondola runs from Brixen valley station to the opposite side of the valley, at the Westendorf Choralpe. One of the most challenging pistes leads from here into the valley: the varied Kandler descent which comprises numerous transitions, wide pistes for carving and fast sections. Pure, simple pleasure.

BEGINNERS AND NEWBIES

Brixen also offers numerous easy options for learning winter sports: the Aktiv ski school (at the valley station) and the Brixen im Thale ski school (Hochbrixen mountain station) offer ski courses, snowboarding courses and private lessons with personal professional instruction, from beginners to experts. The mountain also has its own practice lift and easy piste for beginners to facilitate learning along with lots of easy and medium-difficult pistes for beginners. The valley decent (1b) from Hochbrixen enables novices to return safely and comfortably back to the valley.

FAMILIES / CHILDREN

Brixen offers the best conditions for beginners of all ages and for a holiday with children thanks to its ‘Kids SkiWelt’ practice area in Hochbrixen with the Bobo mini-club (3-4 years old) and kids’ club (from 3 years old), its own practice lift and the Aktiv kinderland with various levels of difficulty and two conveyors. Numerous broad and well-prepared pistes invite visitors to enjoy a skiing experience for all ages together while the ALPENIGLU® igloo village in Hochbrixen offers a cool lounge where snow bunnies and sun worshippers can hang out as well as exciting experiences with a fantastic ice exhibition for all the family. One particularly attractive feature are the ski depots right by the valley and mountain station of the Hochbrixen gondola – after all, who wants to drag their gear around while on holiday?

EXPERIENCES

The ALPENIGLU® igloo village in Hochbrixen offers a truly unique experience. The white village of 18 igloos in Hochbrixen offers a unique world of experience with numerous facets. And at the heart of it all is the stuff all winter dreams are made of: ice! A fondue on a crystal-clear ice table, an overnight stay in an igloo suite, cool drinks in ice glasses and as a highlight, the ICE LAND ice art exhibition: ice sculptures by international artists are impressively presented using high-tech lighting. The ALPENIGLU® igloo village is the SkiWelt’s hottest winter act with its igloo hotel, ice church, restaurant, bar and sun lounge!

The ALPENIGLU® igloo village in Hochbrixen is also a special experience for non-skiers and is just a leisurely one minute’s walk away from Hochbrixen mountain station. The SkiWelthütte mountain restaurant is situated at the gondola mountain station – the ideal destination for those who prefer a winter holiday without winter sports.

Who is fastest on the piste? The timed speed trail on the Filzbodenbahn has the answer! Fun for all ages!

Brixen also offers a small yet refined experience in the form of nigh-skiing at the Schusterbühel lift – ideal for beginners who want to experience skiing by night on the piste.

The SkiWelt has a total of 196 km of perfectly prepared trails on offer for Nordic sports fans, with a range of options. The Hochbrixen cross-country run is a real highlight: situated in a beautiful landscape, this trail offers peaceful cross-country fun and safe snow conditions up until the end of the season.
