The Common Reedbuck is a medium sized antelope usually found near water.
Only males have horns, which are generally short, heavily ribbed and slightly forward-curved. The colour ranges from yellowish to grey-brown.

Common Reedbuck is easily confused with Mountain Reedbuck, but is much smaller in stature and a bit greyer in colour. Common Reedbuck will normally be found in pairs, but can, especially in the winter months, be found in larger groups.

They graze during the cooler periods of the day and often at night. In the hot daytime they tend to lie in the reeds or tall grass.

Hunting Common Reedbuck

When it comes to choice of rifle calibre, a 7mm or .270 is more than sufficient. And as with all African game species, be sure to use quality rifle ammunition.
