Resistant winter apple variety with excellent fruit quality and taste from China. Hanfu is a special apple variety that combines self-pollination, cold resistance and long shelf life of the fruit. After its introduction, it immediately became the leading apple variety in large-scale plantations, especially in northern provinces of China such as Liaoning.

Origin and Crossing: the variety was bred in 1978 by Professor Li Huaiyu of Shenyang Agricultural University by crossing the Dongguang and Fuji. After more than ten years of testing, it passed the variety certification in Liaoning and began to multiplicate in 1998.
Vigour: moderate, canopy moderately dense. The variety is adaptable and unpretentious to any growing conditions.
Blossom: self-fertile
Fruits: short-conical shape, average fruit weight 250 g, maximum up to 520 g. In addition to being eaten fresh, the fruit is also suitable for making various products such as cider, vinegar, juice, candied apples, dried apples, apple chips and canned apples.
Fruit colour: the basic color is yellow-green, the cover color is bright red over the entire surface of the fruit
Pulp: light yellow, crunchy, juicy, firm and fragrant. The taste is harmonious with a balanced ratio of sugar and acid.
Harvest season: harvest maturity mid-October, consumption maturity at the end of October
Storage: when stored in the refrigerator until May
Yield: high, regular, early onset
Frost resistance: high
General disease-resistance: resistance to scab (Vf gene) on a polygenic basis. Tolerant to powdery mildew, moderately resistant to fire blight. For its resistance to fungal diseases it is suitable for organic cultivation without chemical protection.
