Yellow Shirts fined millions for blocking Bangkok airports
Thirteen leaders of Thailand’s Yellow Shirts have been ordered to a multi-million-euro fine for having blocked the country’s two main airports during the 2008 protests. Thailand’s Civil Court ruled that key leaders of the movement were responsible for inciting protesters to illegally interfere with the operation of the airports, which caused major damage to the country’s economy.

The court accused the thirteen key Yellow Shirt members of inciting protesters to occupy the airports.
Among them is Chamlong Srimuang, the former governor of Bangkok, and leader of the Yellow Shirt’s official organisation, the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD).
He and 12 others were ordered to pay a total of 522.1 million baht (12.2 million euros), plus 7.5 per cent interest a year, since 3 December 2008, the date of the end of the protest.
