EA Developing "Assassin's Creed-style" Action Game, Led By Jade Raymond

Former Ubisoft developer Jade Raymond is now with Electronic Arts and she's brought that hidden blade know-how to the publisher as Raymond is working on an "Assassin's Creed-style" project.

EA Studios VP Patrick Soderlund had said they want to create their own "gigantic action games" akin to Assassin's Creed, Batman: Arkham or Grand Theft Auto. The Assassin's Creed co-creator is certainly going to help steer that kind of project, which is surprisingly an area EA has yet to tread very far in. Shooters, racers, strategies, RPGs, simulators, sports... these are their big staples.

"We've never really operated in the largest genre of gaming, and that's the action genre. That's the Assassin's Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-play versus multiplayer. It's not been an area that we've operated in," Soderlund said. "We recently hired Jade Raymond, who was behind the Assassin's Creed franchise for Ubisoft and she will be building an action genre for us through a studio we're building out in Montreal right now."

Jade Raymond heads up the Motive studio in Montreal and her team is already linked to the still-rather-secret Amy Hennig Star Wars game in the works over at Visceral Games, which is said to salvage some of what Stars Wars 1313 would have delivered.
