Description
Elegant stems up to 50 cm tall are tightly clothed with thin leaves, almost in the manner of a florists Iris rather than a juno section species. At the summit are borne one to several bright blue and white, strongly clove-scented flowers in May. These open from the top of the spike downwards in classic juno fashion.
A rare plant, found just once in Afghanistan many years ago but remarkably this is tolerant and happy outside in a well-drained sunny spot.
This is simply the best juno for the garden, indeed it is one of the very best best Iris species.
Our stock is propagated from the original Wendelbo collection (W.7727) made when Afghanistan was a safe place to visit.
