Description
Several forms of Galanthus reginae–olgae are now being named and becoming available.
Galanthus reginae–olgae Christine clearly belongs to the subspecies vernalis as the flowering time is in Spring, well after Christmas at which time the leaves are well developed (i.e. when the plant is in flower).
This is probably the very last of the reginae–olgae to flower here and in several other gardens. This has good-sized flowers with well rounded outer segments and a strong emerald-green mark on the inners. Vigorous and capable of making two scapes per bulb (the second a little later than the first) when established.
Named by Christopher Grey-Wilson for his wife. It originated in his mother’s garden some time before 1970.
