Description
(syn. elwesii monostictus hiemalis)
For many years an early flowering form of the old ‘caucasicus‘ was known and written about, but it was rarely seen. This is a large and robust garden species. Broad reflexed glaucous leaves and large globular flowers marked green at the tip.
This is a late autumn-flowering plant, spreading into early winter. This one usually starts flowering here late in October or early in November, depending on the season, yet is clearly elwesii monostictus (caucasicus of gardens). A fabulous plant, strong growing and very deserving with good sized, green marked, late autumnal flowers!
