Description

Raised by Leonid Bodarenko, this is a lovely white form of Fritillaria meleagris with greatly elongated flowers, which render it instantly recognisable. It is longer certainly than any of the other named clones. Though it is no more narrow than other forms, the extra length gives it the (false) impression of being more slender. This is accentuated by the fact that the flowers, as they mature, do not spread sideways as do many other forms.

On the outside, the petals have a thin green stripe running their length. This is much more sharply defined and less diffuse than in other forms with such a green stripe or zone.

Very distinctive and lovely but still scarce and little-seen. There is an old variety “contorta” that sounds very like this in shape, but I do not know that plant the comment further.
