Description

(syn Crocus biflorus adami)

The plant once called Crocus biflorus adami has now been reclassified as a species. The name is applied only to Caucasian plants, those from further afield being given other names and indeed the entire biflorus clan is currently the subject of massive splitting, often on very minor diagnostic features. Ours is what was once regarded as true C. adami, and this stock has strong flowers of good robust constitution. These are deep purple with a silver exterior striped and lined deep violet purple set in the centre are orange anthers and a divided red style.

An excellent form for the garden raised from a collection made by the late Vladimir Vasak in the 1980s.
