Description
A mountain species whose Japanese name is ‘two-flower’, as each rhizome normally has a pair of flowers. The leaves are cut into rounded lobes at the edges and very attractively marked on the upper surface in silver and green. These leaves are borne with the pure white flowers (which also have white anthers) in April and make a good foil for other spring bulbs as well as being a nice plant in their own right..
Easy in light shade in a leafy soil and makes an attractive clump in time though it will also take alpine house cultivation in a pan or pot.
