A beautiful, variegated hybrid of Vriesea saundersii and Vriesea platynema with broad, intensely varigated leaves with a reddish hue, cultivated under the name 'Highway Beauty'. Seeds from hybrid cultivars will not produce plants identical to the parent but their offspring may be quite variable. This can be a chance to select the most interesting of them to propagate by offsets. In the worst case it will produce a wild mix of colorful bromeliads.
