Description:

Adults are parasitic carnivores, feeding on the blood of other fish by attaching themselves with a sucking disc and rasping a hole with their horny plated tongue (Carlander 1969; Goldstein and Simon 1999). So AWESOME!!

Habitat:

Found while seining in a freshwater stream.

Notes:

Found 2 One in the net and one attached to a fish.

Sorry none, it was caught during a field trip for an ichthyology class.

Awesome picture! I love your description, I'm going to go ahead and assume you're a fan of lampreys. I just saw my first last year, and I'm hoping to find some again once Spring comes. Any tips?
