Breath of Fire 3 heading to American PlayStation Store (update)

A PSP game finally makes it stateside

Breath of Fire 3's PlayStation Portable port will make its North American debut on the PlayStation Store, Capcom announced on its Unity blog.

The game will arrive in February, according to the blog. Compatible with PSP, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV systems, Breath of Fire 3 will cost $9.99 once it's available for digital download.

The third game in Capcom's cult favorite role-playing game franchise first launched worldwide on PlayStation. A PSP port followed, first in Japan in 2005 before coming to Europe in 2006. The 10-year-old re-release hasn't been available to those in North America until now, however.

Next up for the RPG series is Breath of Fire 6, which will be the series' first mainline entry in nearly 15 years. The Android and iOS game launches in Japan this February and March, respectively; no Western release has been confirmed.

Update: Breath of Fire 3 is now available — despite its PlayStation Store page listing the game for a Sept. 9 release. The download costs $9.99 and, according to the Store, is playable on PlayStation Vita alone.
