Pansies

CORSICAN VIOLET (Viola corsica): My favorite perennial pansy covers itself with long-stemmed lavender blue flowers all summer long. 6-12" tall, hardy to USDA Zone 4, this drought tolerant native of Corsica and Sardinia is ideal for shady pots and borders. Mine bloomed from June to November in Santa Fe. Inexplicably, many garden encyclopedias ignore this treasure.
