* Common name: Yarrow Little Moonshine
* Botanical name: Achillea millefolium ‘ACBZ002’
* What it is: A sun-loving, heat- and drought-tough perennial flower with fern-like foliage, a spicy scent, and lots of bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that produce for nearly two months in summer. It also makes an excellent cut or dried flower.
* Size: Little Moonshine is one of the most compact yarrows, topping out at a non-floppy 1 foot tall. Most yarrows are 2 to 3 feet tall. Space 18 to 24 inches apart.
* Where to use: The front of a sunny perennial border, south- or west-facing house foundation beds, rock gardens, and any hot, sunny spot. Mixes well with many other perennials or can be grouped in a mass by itself for impact.
* Care: Fertilize in early spring with a granular, organic or long-acting flower fertilizer. Shear or cut back hard after bloom, and plants will grow fresh foliage and usually rebloom in early fall.
Cut foliage to the ground after frost kills it in fall or in early spring before new growth begins.
* Great partner: Pairs well with red roses, red daylilies, and/or red mums. Also works nicely in front of hollies, arborvitae, or upright junipers. And looks good next to most any ornamental grass.
