A great show of Centaurium venustum on Sundevil

We are having quite an exceptional season for natives, thanks to the late rains. I have been walking up Black Mountain via Sundevil and the Manzanita loop quite a bit and I was really struck by the display of Canchalagua (Centaurium venustum). Their peak on this side of Black Mountain was a couple of weeks ago when the trail edges were completely lined with these bright pink beauties, but there are still plenty everywhere. l was surprised to see several albino ones. Hope to see them again next year! Still pretty easy to spot on the mountain are Weed’s mariposa lily (Calochortus weedii), Splendid Mariposa lily (Calochortus splendens), Nuttall’s snapdragon (Antirrhinum nuttallianum). and Golden Eardrops (Ehrendorferia chrysantha).
