photo sharing site

A website used to store and share photos. Users upload their pictures to the service, which can be made available to friends and family. Along with free and paid subscriptions, prints and frames may be offered.

Photo sharing services enable people to keep all their photos in one place instead of scattered in multiple computers, tablets and phones. In addition to storage, the service may provide a limited number of editing tools.

The monthly or annual fee is based on the total number of bytes of content. A free version with a limited amount of storage may also be available. The following summary of photo sharing sites was excerpted from PCMag.com in February 2024. See media sharing site.

Ofoto - One of the First Clicking a thumbnail (top) displayed a large low-res image (bottom). High-resolution prints could be ordered. Ofoto was acquired by Kodak in 2001 and renamed Kodak EasyShare Gallery. In 2012, Shutterfly took over the service. (Images courtesy of Karen Clayton.)
