So, you're planning a trip to Sicily, and you've heard amazing things about Castellammare del Golfo, the little town where everyone goes in the summer. You want to see why it's such a hot spot, but you don't know where to start when it comes to finding all of the great beaches and fun things to do nearby! Spiaggia Plaja

Spiaggia Plaja is a 3-mile-long sandy stretch of shoreline extending into a vast sandy coastline. It's home to lidos, alfresco bars & restaurants. We have enjoyed some of our best meals at these lidos! This beach is popular with families as it has shallow waters and an abundance of facilities nearby. In addition to sunbathing, there are plenty of things to do in and around Spiaggia Plaja such as canoeing, windsurfing and sailing on its calm waters. There are plenty of places for parking (3 EUR a day), and in the summer there are usually free buses from the town to the beach. It is also the most accessible with ramps for strollers and wheelchairs or a few steps from the street. It's our favorite beach near Palazzo del Golfo.

Cala Bianca

This beach is considered one of if not the best snorkeling spot in the Riserva dello Zingaro. Its shallow rocky seashore and clear water make it a perfect spot for those interested in snorkeling, with sea life on display, including colorful fish, giant sponges, dolphins, and more. The seashore itself is rocky, so it's essential to wear shoes when exploring just in case you step on a sharp rock. Note that there are no changing rooms at Cala Bianca. So as soon as you arrive, you'll want to take off your clothes and get right into the water!

Spiaggia Guidaloca

Travelers flock to Spiaggia Guidaloca for its clean beach of stones and beautiful views. The waters are great for swimming and snorkeling. So pack your sunscreen and swimsuit and go have some fun! Even the name sounds fun - Guidaloca! Good food and drinks by the beach. There are plenty of umbrellas to rent if you don't want to pack your own. While still technically in Sicily, this beach feels worlds away with its clear blue waters, dramatic cliffs overlooking them, and vibrant turquoise hues when sunlight hits them just right.

Cala della Disa

If you're more adventurous and looking for your slice of beach paradise, then you may want to visit Cala della Disa. Clear water and less crowded because it's a bit of a hike - but it's totally worth it! It is the second cove on the path through the Riserva dello Zingaro from the entrance to Scopello. It is about an hour and a half's walk from there along a challenging path that is inaccessible to some, yet leads to some of the best stretches of coastline in the area. If you're going to go, be sure to wear appropriate shoes and tackle the path - it's full of rocky outcroppings and has many steps. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful beach and one of the most picturesque in the region.

Cala Mazzo di Sciacca

In addition to a beautiful beach, clear water, and plenty of facilities, Cala Mazzo di Sciacca has parking nearby (5 EUR per day) and restrooms. The bar offers umbrellas, chairs, and other facilities. I enjoyed snorkeling off of Cala Mazzo di Sciacca. There are clear signs showing where you can swim, and there is a shallow area where young children can safely play in the water while mom or dad relax under an umbrella. The view from Cala Mazzo di Sciacca is beautiful, and it's great for watching sunsets or just taking pictures.

Cala Capreria

A 20-minute walk to a beautiful beach, but beware, there is no shade here! It is a super popular place with trekkers, so you'll probably have to share it with other people, so go best to go early. Bring some water and maybe a picnic. It's well worth it! This beach has some nice sand and shallow water to keep your feet cool all day. For the more adventurous, there are rock formations to explore. As with all the beaches along the Zingaro coast, you can also arrive there by boat if hiking is not your thing.

Tonnara di Scopello

The Tonnara di Scopello is one of the most picturesque scenes in all of Sicily (Remember the last scene of ‘Oceans 12’? It was filmed here!). Scopello itself is known for its coastline with Faraglioni – rock formations that jut out of calm waters. The water is perfect, with fantastic visibility that lets us see the bottom, even at depths of 24 meters. It's an unforgettable sight and one of many things to do while visiting these beautiful beaches near Castellammare del Golfo.

Cala dell'Uzzo

Beach and nature lovers will want to make sure to visit the hidden beach Cala dell'Uzzo. This unique pebble beach is set on the edge of the Riserva Zingaro and offers stunning views. It is the second cove starting from the north entrance. All of the different shades of blue in the water are set against the warm, reddish color of the rocks, and it makes for one of the most magnificent scenery. If you like exploring caves, this is a good place for diving, snorkeling, and swimming. It is truly an absolutely breathtaking place.

Spiaggia San Vito lo Capo

Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo is one of best beaches in all of Sicily. It is often compared to the Maldives or the Caribbean. It has beautiful white sand and crystal clear water, perfect for swimming or simply relaxing on a lounger with an ice-cold drink in hand! The beach here is soft, white sand that's slightly over half a mile long—ideal for strolling and relaxing. San Vito Lo Capo is a lively beach town with lots of shops and restaurants if you want to get out of the sun. Monte Cafano majestically frames the beach, creating one of Sicily's most beautiful natural corners. The mountain itself is part of a nature preserve. A half-day hike will lead you to some of the most incredible scenic panoramas of the Medditerean.

Cala Rossa

Once you've seen San Vito Lo Capo's town center—a colorful and vibrant neighborhood just off a stunning beach—you'll want to spend most of your time in nearby Cala Rossa. This is where we spent our time in San Vito Lo Capo; it's one of our favorite beaches in Italy and offers clear water that allows for excellent snorkeling. In fact, as with many of San Vito Lo Capo's beaches, you'll find sea urchins and orange starfish while snorkeling here. If you're traveling with kids, they'll love splashing around in these waters.
